Together with University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht) and Eindhoven University of Technology, Level Acoustics & Vibration is carrying out research into the acoustics of care homes. The research is part of the project ‘Bezielende omgeving in de Ouderenzorg’ and is conducted mostly on site in care homes. Even though elderly people often suffer from hearing impairments, acoustics is still given little attention in care homes, while. Because of their hearing loss, most residents in care homes experience difficulties in understanding speech and interacting in conversation. Poor room acoustics can increase these problems.
